There was little doubt in my mind when the first opportunity presented itself I would search out adventure and so in my early twenties, with a purr of my Norton, the open road beckoned. The unknown was my destination as I went in hope to find many of life’s answers, often to questions a young man has no idea of yet, but still it was my quest. I journeyed east, then south, criss-crossing through famous points of interest and those barely a flicker on the map, through the lush terrain, the beautiful orchards and the barren wastelands, across continents and into places where life is a razors edge dance but through it all, I experienced it all.
Somewhere along those dirty roads and the razors edge I found what I was looking for, charted and etched in journal after journal but beyond the portfolio of works there were the experiences of life. The sunrises on the open dessert, the bright lights of the city with the brightest lights and all of it captured in my heart and fuelled with passion.
Sitting back on it now those days seem so very close yet so very foreign in the most peculiar of ways. Our world has changed incredibly since that time long ago and amongst this digital rubbish heap it seems that the soul of passion is being bled out of many. I would like to say ‘I understand’ but quite honestly this era of affirmation is not one I am comfortable with and wonder when the public will sit up and take notice.
You have one life. One chance at today, to sing with all your heart, to dance with all you might and rather than falling in line like sheep, live.
Experience life, chart your course and push forward at full throttle.
One day I’m going to take many of you on that journey, to parts unknown but until that time I thank you for your support.
