your guide to winning the weight loss battle

Category : John Davies, Training, USP Labs

The perversity of the modern health and fitness industry is that while more is spent on this area than in history the mainstream public level of obesity skyrockets. Yet the greater irony is that while the health and fitness industry has done little at stopping the epidemic, the public still looks towards them for solutions.

This is doomed for failure because most of the exercise industry is not about health and fitness but rather about selling products to a desperate to reverse the trend.

The answer to weight loss and general health is unlikely to be seen in the majority of present-day health and fitness industry but rather our past where improving the quality of life is the mandate.

This notion of “improving the quality of life” is the ultimate of short-cuts as it bypasses all the sales pitches from this era’s snake-oil salesman and instead goes to the gist of the matter.

The challenge of weight loss and let me stress it is a mighty one, is that modern living goes completely against the grain of a high quality life and the resulting day-to-day existence gives rise to weight gain.

Successful weight loss will require lifestyle changes and while I ramble a few points with each of these articles please note they could take months if not years to implement. Many of these changes will counter entire patterns of behaviour throughout your life and while they seem easy to review, compliance will be a challenge.

Further to yesterday’s article, add the following approaches to your “to-do” list today. Mark each one down and stay in line throughout the balance of the month and within three to four weeks they will likely become habitual.

secrets to winning the weight loss battle

Category : John Davies, Training, USP Labs

It is one of the most ironic topics in the health and fitness business of “how to lose the final ten pounds” while the overwhelming mainstream is concerned with the “first ten”. Losing weight, the plan of exercise and diet is naturally easy for a fit, healthy training professional but far from that for a population grappling with obesity. Effectively losing weight is “easy” with the condition that you are fit, young and healthy but all others have to accept it as a series of often difficult lifestyle changes.

Considering weight loss from the perspective of basic exercise and a proper diet is obviously sound as a solution set but for those who never took part in exercise during their youth or have had poor dietary habits, these changes are a mighty uphill battle.

The difficulty in this cannot be established because the journey to total health starts with deeply challenging first steps that may seem “simple” to those who are fit and healthy but a great deal easier said than done. For many who have been overweight throughout their lifetime this involves ripping apart many habits that have engrained since their youth and wiring an entire different way of life.

Is this “simple”? Absolutely not and to make light of it merely serves evidence of the lack of connection between the needs of the public and the health and fitness industry.

With the sweltering heat on the topic of virtually every reader this summer, those dedicated towards their training goals are being taxed to the limit. Though this appears to be a record heat-wave that has me issuing heat adversaries daily to my coaches and athletes alike, such concerns are typical of the time of the year. That is not meant to slight the stifling heat but rather stress that each year the issue rises and those that prepare for it properly can continue towards their goals without significant obstruction.

Training during the summer can be challenging but by following a strict pattern, observing basic rules and avoiding common pratfalls, you can attain your goals. Naturally the problem goes to recognizing the above three matters and paying strict attention to recovery and regeneration techniques as well as maintaining a proper diet.

The greatest secrets of training in the summer are:
